Why are young people flourishing as streamers to "make money online"?

The rapid popularity of characters in the streamer world has attracted young people to pursue this dream job.

The impact of the Covid-19 epidemic has made people stay at home more. Thanks to that, the world's foremost live stream platforms such as Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter all reported a spike in the number of users and watch hours.

There are no specific figures in the Vietnamese market, but with the record of Vietnamese streamer viewership being continuously broken on two popular platforms, Youtube and Facebook Gaming, many young people see this as a life-changing opportunity if they know how to seize the right moment.

Tempting environment

Livestream is a tempting path for young people who wish to change their lives. Indeed, suppose one only occasionally reads the news. In that case, it is easy to hear about fan donations to streamers amounting to tens of millions of dong in Vietnam, or tens of thousands of dollars around the world.

Donate is a form of giving virtual gifts or giving money to idols on live streams with unlimited numbers. Viruses or Do Mixi are streamers in the biggest donation group in Vietnam today, with each live stream can receive at least a few million to several tens of millions of dong.

The method of making money for these streamers is to play games, comment, or chat with fans to attract viewers. This is considered a righteous and healthy form of labor.

In addition to the above method, there are many other "dirty" forms of Livestream that are beyond the scope of this article, attracting a large number of donors thanks to offensive actions, and showing off provocative bodies.

It can be said that the huge amount of donations that streamers receive is what stimulates young people to join and pursue this path despite all the consequences of a "dirty" Livestream.

Streamer becomes a professional

In the early days, just basic equipment such as webcams, headphones with a mic, and a set of moderately configured computers was enough for anyone to be a streamer if they had enough passion and perseverance.

Later, a generation of older retired eSports players also joined this path. The Livestream market suddenly became exciting because they were people with names, skills, and a strong fan base.

When the Livestream develops strongly, even the players and the editors who are still doing professional work emphasize this path. Secret history, and behind-the-scenes stories are revealed to create a streamer world full of drama that attracts viewers.

Further, as investment funds are poured in continuously, live streaming in Vietnam has developed into an industry to an unbelievable degree. There, behind every successful streamer, there is a whole team from makeup, scripting, and video editing to image management, branding, and many others.

Streamer training companies also quickly sprang up like the training centers of singers and actors in the showbiz world. There, streamers are also strictly selected with criteria such as appearance, knowing how to chat, and being able to play games in return, they will be 'pushed' to stars in just a moment.

Or simply, streamers who do not have the support of the big guys behind can still easily create their own popularity when there is a certain number of viewers, even if it is small. At that time, they create a fan page to share images, from attractive images, fans or streamers themselves create new images video from photo to catch the trend with attractive music with the desire to become a trend. There are a lot of streamers with a little bit of appearance, thanks to the videos from that photo, they became famous within 1 night.

Even streamers have been opened by the management company to attack Vietnamese showbiz and create equally dramatic stories, such as the once buzzing couple PewPew and Tram Anh, or more recently, NoWay and Cara, VirusSs and Ngan Assassin.

As long as the money is still pouring into the Livestream platforms, the streamer incubators will continue to thrive, and the number of streamers will continue to bloom. Even if there are no investors left, streamers can still live well if Vietnamese people still maintain the top YouTube viewing rate like in 2019.
