If you don't actually watch Newsmax, according to Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy, you probably believe his network to be something it isn't. Ruddy informed me, "Newsmax is not One America," rejecting any notion that Newsmax and One America News, the extreme right-wing network that has grown to be a favorite of former President Trump, could be compared. He claimed that Newsmax has always remained true to its reputation as a big-tent, centrist conservative media institution. who is Newsmax owned by
"Our view was that that was censorship," Ruddy said to the conservative throng assembled at a convention center outside of Washington, DC. The network chief used the removal of One America News, a lesser-known right-wing station, from DirecTV's cable list last year as evidence for this assertion. He continued by asserting that "liberals and the left effectively own everyone in the press world" and that Fox News is the only remaining conservative channel available on DirecTV. Fox, in my opinion, is good, but let's face it, Fox is evolving, and it's nice to have more voices, and Newsmax has a very important part in providing those, Ruddy continued.
